“Faith, Not Superstition”

Daily writing prompt
Are you superstitious?

People sometimes ask if I’m superstitious.

If I believe in lucky numbers, signs in the sky, or small rituals that control the outcome of life.

The truth is, I don’t think life works that way.

Superstition comes from a place of trying to control the uncertainty, believing that if we say the right thing, avoid the wrong thing, or follow certain patterns, we can somehow protect ourselves from what might happen next.

But my life hasn’t been shaped by luck.

It’s been shaped by faith.

Faith doesn’t promise that everything will go well. It doesn’t guarantee that pain won’t come or that plans will always work out. But it does something superstition never can, it gives meaning to uncertainty.

Instead of searching for lucky signs, I’ve learned to trust something greater than chance.

Instead of fearing what might happen if I break some invisible rule, I try to live with integrity, responsibility, and belief that my steps are not random.

That doesn’t mean I have everything figured out; life is still unpredictable. There are still moments where doubt creeps in, where the future feels unclear.

But I’d rather live trusting God than fearing coincidences.

Because superstition says the universe is fragile, one mistake away from chaos.

Faith says that even in chaos, there is still a hand guiding the story.

And that makes all the difference.
