If I could have any superpower, it wouldn’t be flight or strength. It would be to be understood; fully, without having to explain every part of myself. Not just heard but seen clearly. The kind of understanding where silence isn’t misread and intentions aren’t questioned before they’re even known. Because more than anything, I’ve realized how much of life is shaped by whether people truly understand you or not.
A lot of the struggle hasn’t been about what I can or can’t do, it’s been about being misunderstood. Saying something real and watching it land wrong. Opening up and feeling it get reduced or used in a way I didn’t expect. Over time, that changes you, it makes you more careful, more guarded, sometimes quieter than you actually are. Not because you don’t have anything to say, but because you’re weighing whether it’s safe to say it.
But maybe the real power isn’t in being understood by everyone. Maybe it’s in finding the few who are willing to try; the ones who listen without rushing, who ask instead of assuming, who hold your words with care. That kind of understanding might not be supernatural, but it’s rare. And when you find it, it feels like something close to a superpower on its own.
