If you asked me which book I’ve read more than any other, I’d probably disappoint you with my answer.
It’s my own life.
I’ve spent years rereading the same chapters, trying to understand why I react the way I do, why I love the way I love, and why silence sometimes feels more honest than words. Every season has become another page, every mistake another paragraph, every relationship another chapter that taught me something about myself.
Reading yourself is different from reading a book. You don’t get to skip ahead to the ending. You have to live every sentence before you understand what it meant. Along the way, I’ve learned when I’m asking too much of someone, when I’ve overstepped my own boundaries, and when my presence may have become heavier than I intended. Those realisations don’t always come with shame. Sometimes they come with grace, the kind that quietly says, “Step back. Give them room. Give yourself room too.”
So yes, the book I’ve read the most is my own life. And every time I think I’ve reached the final chapter, I discover another page waiting to be understood. Maybe that’s what growing up really is not becoming someone new, but learning to read yourself more honestly, one chapter at a time.
